Newport Mayor Phillip Jones met this week with senior leadership of the Biden administration at the White House to discuss how the city has used federal funding and to advocate for additional money. He joined roughly 30 other elected officials and community leaders from across Virginia to attend a half-day 'Communities in Action: Building a Better Virginia' forum hosted by the Office of Intergovernmental Affairs. 'I think it's important that whenever decisions are being made at the state and federal level, Newport has a seat at the table,' said Jones, the only Hampton Roads elected leader to participate in the discussion.
